Westminster Man busted for Marijuana

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest Tuesday of a Westminster man on marijuana charges.  Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt gives details.  “45-year-old Robert Edward Landers of 112 Greenfield Road in Westminster has been charged with manufacturing marijuana. According to deputies, narcotics agents from the Sheriff’s Office, working with agents from the State Law Enforcement Division, were conducting marijuana eradication operations in the County when deputies noticed marijuana plants from the SLED helicopter.  The plants were spotted behind an outbuilding at the Greenfield Road address. Agents arrived at the residence and knocked on the door.  Landers came to the door and told deputies that three marijuana plants were all that he had and that they were growing behind his outbuilding.  Landers then gave written consent for a search of the residence and showed agents marijuana seeds that were located in his bedroom. Three marijuana plants and a small bag of marijuana seeds were taken from the Greenfield address.  The amount of marijuana plants seized was estimated to be worth $6,000, according to deputies.” Landers was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon and was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center in Walhalla. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
