Westminster Woman arrested for Impersonating an Officer

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster woman Friday afternoon on charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer. Deputies were dispatched to Chau Ram County Park regarding a disturbance a Park Ranger was having with two females in which one of the women, 43-year-old Clara Irene Williams, said she was an agent with SLED and would have the Ranger arrested. Williams also reportedly covered her tag on her vehicle when the Ranger attempted to write her a trespass notice. The deputy who responded stopped Williams, who told the deputy that she worked with SLED. The deputy asked Williams for her SLED identification, which Williams was not able to produce. A check with SLED revealed that Williams had never been an employee of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Agency. Williams was placed under arrest and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center. She was released on Saturday on a $2,500 personal recognizance bond.
