Shonetta Maria Goings

Investigators with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 31-year-old Shonetta Maria Goings of Seneca.

The suspect and the victim had been in a relationship in the past; however, the suspect did not live at the residence where the assault occurred. It was determined there were three other outstanding warrants against the suspect from a separate incident within Oconee County.

Information led investigators to determine the suspect was going to leave the State and travel to the Baltimore, Maryland area, which led to law enforcement agencies in other States being notified. The suspect was located as she crossed the Virginia State line and was stopped by the Virginia State Police in the Abbington, VA area. She was placed in custody and is being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail awaiting extradition back to Oconee County for the warrants to be officially served with all warrants from both incidents and a bond hearing to be held.

The previous incident found the suspect charged with: Burglary 2nd Degree, Assault and Battery 3rd Degree and Malicious Damage. For the incident occurring on July 6, 2023, the suspect will face additional charges of 1st Degree Burglary and 1st Degree Criminal Domestic Violence.
