Work progressing on Hartwell Village

Work is progressing on Hartwell Village, the commercial development on Highway 123 in Seneca near the Pickens County line. Oconee Economic Alliance Executive Director Richard Blackwell tells more in this update on the project. “It’s going to be tremendous for this community with 300,000 square feet of new retail, a new hotel is going out there so we’re talking about jobs and the new places to go shopping and eat. When you drive pass there, it seems like every week there is something happening on that site. I think most people remember that used to be the old Milliken site many, many years ago, they tore it down and it sat there vacant for a number of years. Then the church came in and bought some property and sold some property to Casto. Over the last few weeks they have focused on grading and infrastructure work, that will continue, but now you see the pads taking shape and you see vertical construction taking shape. So, it is exciting. They’re still planning on, if the weather cooperates over the winter, to be open in the later part of Q1 next year, so hopefully February or March time frame they will open up for everybody’s spring shopping.” True by Hilton is the new hotel and Marshall’s and Michael’s are just two of the stores announced so far for Hartwell Village.
