World of Energy to host 2nd Annual Festival of Trees

The World of Energy will host its second annual Festival of Trees beginning Nov. 24 through Jan. 3. Nearly two dozen trees will be on display, decorated by local businesses and organizations for the public to view. Tree viewing can take place Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturdays from noon to 5pm at the World of Energy education center. Visitors will also be asked to vote on their favorite tree and the winning tree will receive a $1,000 grant from Duke Energy to donate to their charity of choice. A tree lighting ceremony is planned for Dec. 4 at 6pm for the community to enjoy with live music and refreshments. Also as part of the holiday festivities, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand on Sat., Dec. 6 from 1- 3pm. Children can come and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and parents are encouraged to capture the memories with their camera. All holiday activities at the World of Energy are free and open to the public. The center is an official Toys for Tots drop-off location, so those visiting are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for drop-off. The World of Energy will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Nov. 27 & 28 and Dec. 24 – 29 for Christmas holidays.
