Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Obtains Additional CSC with a Minor Charges against Pickens County Man

A continuing Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor investigation, by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, has led Investigators to charge a Pickens County man with additional charges.

On Friday, August 26th, the Sheriff’s Office announced that 37 year old Joseph Henry Nix had been arrested and charged with one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 3rd Degree.  Nix was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on Thursday evening of last week.  Nix’s bond on that charge was denied.

Based on additional evidence that was obtained during the investigation, Investigators obtained three additional charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – First Degree against Nix.  According to additional arrest warrants, Nix committed a sexual battery by touching the child inappropriately between September of last year and June of this year.  The additional charges involved the same victim as the previous charge obtained by the Sheriff’s Office.

Nix was given a combined $300,000 surety bond on the three additional Criminal Sexual Conduct charges.  Nix will also have to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and the Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could in anyway, either directly or indirectly, identify the minor victim in this investigation.
