Walhalla Police Department Seizes More Than Three Quarters of a Pound of Methamphetamine During Investigation

Officers from the Walhalla Police Department responded to a home on S. Cedar Street in the early morning hours of February 14, 2023, for a 911 hang-up call and welfare check. When officers arrived on scene, they found two men outside the home who were about to fight each other.

During the investigation the officers were informed that illegal drugs were inside the home. After receiving permission to search the home by the occupants, officers discovered numerous items of drug paraphernalia along with approximately 369 grams of methamphetamine. During the arrest the suspect aggressively lunged at and grabbed the arresting officer. The officer was able to handcuff and arrest the suspect and place him in the officer’s patrol vehicle. The suspect had only minor scrapes to his leg and the officer was not injured during the incident.

As a result, 37-year-old Eduardo Eslava Aguilar has been charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine and Assaulting a Police Officer While Resisting Arrest. He was transported to the Oconee County Detention Center where he is being held on a combined $352,125.00 Surety Bond.
