Woman Charged with Ill Treatment of Animals, Several Others Facing Burglary Charges

A 32-year-old Seneca woman named Charvilla Inez McWhorter-Ivy was arrested and charged with ill treatment and abandonment of a half-dead Shepherd mixed puppy. The Oconee Sheriff’s Office stated that the puppy was euthanized after an Animal Control Deputy observed its condition.

They added that Charvilla had called the Humane Society to drop off the sick puppy but did not follow the intake process and did not return to the shelter. McWhorter-Ivy was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on Saturday and released on bond, according to jail records.

Richard J. Certain, 56, was arrested on Tuesday by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. He remains in custody and is charged with first-degree burglary, petit larceny, and possession of burglary tools. His bond was set at $79,250.

22-year-old Xavier Ja’Colby Grase was arrested on Tuesday by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. He is jailed and charged with second-degree burglary, grand larceny over $10,000, and possession of burglary tools. He remains in custody pending bond.

Tonya Denise Shook, 47, was arrested on Tuesday by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. She was charged with first-degree burglary and petit larceny. Her bond was set at $77,125 and she remains in custody at this time.
