OC Council Meeting rescheduled

The Oconee County Council will hold a meeting on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 6pm in Council Chambers of the Oconee County Administrative Offices, which are located at 415 South Pine Street in Walhalla. This meeting makes up for the Feb. 17 regular meeting cancelled due to the winter weather event.

Governor urges Energy Conservation

Governor Nikki Haley joined South Carolina energy providers to encourage state residents to conserve energy today and tomorrow between the hours of 6 and 9am. Utilities forecast historic levels of energy consumption during the three-hour periods. They recommend setting thermostats at 68 degrees or lower and to refrain from using large appliances such as dishwashers, washers, and dryers.

Warming center open in Oconee County

Oconee County Emergency Services will be opening a warming center this evening at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Walhalla, which is located at 607 East Main Street. The center will be opening up beginning at 7pm. This warming center is being opened up in partnership with the Red Cross and Oconee County C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team).
